Volcanoes often erupt onto a glacier or into the sea and due to the speed of the eruption, often large pieces of ice may still be present as the lava spreads, albeit momentarily. My imagination and love of topographical maps inspired this painting based on this premise.
Acrylic on stretched canvas, using a fluid art technique that allows the paints to blend in a unique way, which I disturb using oils to create unusual textures and patterns.
